A short walk from Wellard Train Station is Wellard Square, featuring a range of essential services as well as a Woolworths, Red Dot and several casual dining options. The nearby Wellard Tavern is also a popular choice for weekend lunches and dinners with friends, with its family-friendly atmosphere and expansive menu.
Transport
The suburb is largely serviced by Mortimer Road, which connects the area to the Perth CBD via the Kwinana Freeway. While travel via car to the city is an approximate 28-min journey, transport via rail takes a slightly longer 35-mins. Wellard and Kwinana train stations provide access to several different railway lines and a number of bus routes.
Amusement and Sporting Facilities
Another striking feature of Wellard is its growing collection of parks and public open spaces. These include Wellard Adventure Park, Nature Play Park, Wellard Skate Park, The Village Park and many more. Wellard Oval offers even more space for a variety of team sports, with plenty of local clubs to get involved with. Wellard really does make the ideal destination for a little fresh air, exercise and weekend fun.
Schools
Wellard and its adjacent suburbs host a mix of highly regarded public and private schools (both primary and secondary schools), including:
- Leda Primary School, St Vincent’s Primary School, Harrisdale Senior High School, The King’s College and Bertram Primary School to name a few!
- Plus a number of other preschool and childcare facilities, is conveniently located within the vicinity of the major school and shopping districts. Given the suburb’s proximity to the city, residents are only a short 30-mins from the University of WA. For those more inclined to learn a trade or undertake an apprenticeship, the Kwinana and Rockingham campuses of South Metropolitan TAFE are both closely located to the suburb.
